This Saturday – Native Garden Party Pop-up!

I didn’t really want to start out this post with a weather report– but it’s going to be about 90 degrees and some clouds. A little hotter than I’d hoped, and a little less sunny than I feared. So that’s a wash!

The Air Quality Index has been off the charts on Thursday. I’m hoping we’ll get some rain or a change of wind direction for Saturday. Me and my friends are monitoring it and we’ll see how things go. For now, we’re planning for Saturday As of 4:30 on Friday, July 17, the forecast looks good for Saturday!.

I hope folks come out on Saturday, July 18, 9 am to 2 pm at 645 N Kenilworth in Oak Park for my Native Garden Party Pop-Up. Would love to see you! Family friendly, freebies and fabulous finds.

Eden and I have made the most adorable kids’ t-shirts out of his “Birds of Chicago” artwork series: Northern Cardinal, Goldfinch, American Robin, Downy Woodpecker and Red-tailed Hawk. He is a digital artist and drew these birds from photos on iNaturalist. His printing is super cool too!

I thrifted kids’ t-shirts in sizes 3T to 10 and am so excited about how they turned out. If we don’t have your kid’s size, we can take orders.

I also finished some original water colors of four native plants that I will offer prints of. And maybe soon I will offer them as note cards, but for now they are prints.

Some of the other ideas I had will have to wait for the next sale– that’s life, isn’t it?

I saw Stacey’s artwork the other day– they are fantastically complex, colorful mixed-media collages made with plants she found in her yard and the neighborhood.

Cathy will be bringing her printing press to press native flowers on site– I’m really excited about that!

We will also have thrifted household items for sale. And of course you can tour my garden and meet our chickens Dolly and Charlie.

The brownies and chocolate chip cookies are in the freezer. The native plant freebies (free gift with purchase!) are all potted up. I made tags for them with stories about their wonderfulness. And I’ll have plenty of water and iced cold seltzer to help you handle the heat.
